Sivert Bjørdal

Biography:

I was born 1959 and growed up on a farm in Bjørdalen, Ørsta in west-Norway, as
the 4’Th of 5 children. I was the only boy. My childhood was marked by singing and music.
My family has always marked the local music environment. I have uncle and aunt that also
is active musicians. My father played violin/fiddle and my mom plays guitar and piano.
Today I have many cousins that also are active musicians.

Early I got the interest in music. I lent the guitar of my uncle when I was 12 years old and he, my mom
and my grandma taught me my first grip. I practiced a lot on my room with playing and singing.
I started first with folk-music, but went over to country-music when I was 20 years old.
I perform as much I could on local parties and festivals, but didn’t get active before I was 25 years old.
In 1989 I started as a vocalist in the band ”DIRTY CREEK BAND” where I soon got entry to
the country music -environment. We were great on festivals. Since 1996 I have been solo artist.
I was on my first international country-festival with the band ”Visagino country” in Lithuania in 1997
where I played for 25000 people!

I got married when I was 20 years old. Builded a house back on the farm where I growed up and got
my self a family. Got 3 child, 1 boy and 2 girls. Arthur-Johan, Ragnhild and Anne Marthe. They are
now grown-up and have also got music in their blood. Arthur-Johan plays in a band named
”VASSENDGUTANE” as a vocalist and guitar player. They ware very popular in Norwegian country.

I plays a lot of Hank Williams, but I don't try to imitate him. I like his texts and chords and want to
present it on my own way. I sing also much modern/pop country-music and have also created a lot of my
own materials. I feel that the general public likes what I do.

My occupation is driver on a power shovel and I am an employee at "K.A Aurstad entreprenørselskap"

I have been at a several country-festivals in Norway and East-Europe. I have ambition to go
on a Europe Tour in 2005. We have to see if it goes OK

In 2004 I gave out my first CD. It is a single with 4 tracks. I'm going to start creating a second CD
already to the fall. It's going to be an album with 12 tracks. I hope that one goes to a music-contract.

I love to have people around me. I love my family and sisters. I'm proud of my children.

He is one of the most famous country representatives in Norway. Sivert's voice and his singing manner are very
much similar to Hank Williams's; therefore a part of Sivert's repertoire is borrowed from this country star.
Sivert plays guitar in Merle Travis's guitar picking stil' manner. Thus Sivert Bjordal embodied the
phrase "Hank Williams will never die". Although H. Williams made the biggest influence on Sivert's work, Sivert Bjordal
also speaks about two personalities, whom he respects and is constantly learning from them.
These persons are Allan Jackson and Vince Gill.

Sivert har Lang fartstid som countrysanger, hele 20 år siden han startet med denne
Musikkstilen, og har gjennom desse Årenene vert innom enn rekke festivaler i Norge.
Han er også kjent utover landegrensene , I 1997-98, og 2003, har han sammen med bandet sitt stått på scenen i
lithauen, på ”countryJonines” i Siauliai, og på ”Visagino Country” i Visaginas,
der han opptrådde for 25000 Begeistrede publikummere,

Sammen med artister fra blant annet USA, ble Sivert kåret til ”singer of the festival” her.
Han har altså i år 20 års jubileum som country sanger og i samband med det ,
ga han nyleg ut CD-singelen ”my tribute to Hank” denne kom ut i samband med hans opptreden på
årets country festival på Skjåk. Sivert reiser nå rundt med fullt band , og som trio, alle medlemmene i
bandet har lang fartstid innen country music.
